Dr Alexander Flint - Principal Dentist

Alex joined the practice in April 2020, and took over joint ownership of the practice in June 2024. He grew up in Nottinghamshire but holidayed yearly as a child to Northumberland before attending Newcastle University. Before moving to Alnwick he previously lead a couple of large practices in both Sunderland and Middlesborough.
He is an enthusiastic and highly qualified dentist passing further exams with the Royal College of Surgeons in London and having studied in Italy, LA and Houston, bringing new skills to the practice such as implants and invisalign orthodontics. He is extremely friendly and believes in delivering high quality dental care to all with expertise and a smile.
Out of work he enjoys cooking, playing football and tennis, travelling and is currently working on building a new home with his fiancee and their cats, Apple and Naana.
Dr Matthew Shilling - Principal Dentist

Matthew joined the practice in November 2023 and took over joint ownership of the practice in June 2024. He grew up in Yorkshire before attending Newcastle University in the same year as Alex, and they remained firm friends ever since. Since then he worked in County Durham for a decade. This included mentoring newly graduated dentists in practice, a role he thoroughly enjoyed.
He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Glasgow and during his career he has enjoyed delivering excellent care to all his patients as well as helping anxious and nervous patients.
Outside of dentistry he loves spending time with his partner Melissa and their two young children. He has enjoyed travelling, particularly Europe and South East Asia. He also enjoys board games, football as well as keeping up with current affairs.
Dr Helen Dugan - Associate Dentist

Helen joined the practice in 2013 after qualifying from Newcastle University in 1997 Bds and MFGDP IN 2008. She is an experienced dentist and she particularly enjoys helping and treating those with anxiety and dental phobias. She is passionate about individual patient care.
She is married with a young family and enjoys outdoor activities with them.
Ruth Cooper - Dental Hygienist

Ruth has worked in the practice for number of years, as well as previously at Newcastle Dental Hospital as a staff Dental Hygienist working and teaching on the very busy Periodontal Department and as part of the multidisciplinary Head and Neck cancer team.
As a Dental Hygienist Ruth will treat periodontal disease (gum disease) and give invaluable advice on dental care and oral hygiene which is so important to maintain a healthy mouth.
Ruth is a local girl, she grew up in Alnwick and both her father and grandfather were dentists in the town previously owning the practice.
She likes nothing better than spending valuable time with her family and friends and going for long walks with her dog Coco, a very energetic cocker spaniel.
Our team are a happy group of lovely individuals who always have a smile and are prepared to go the extra mile for each other and for you.
We work very much as a team with everyone valued and respected and patients particularly comment on how relaxed and friendly we all are!
